Employers

Sometimes, colleges are called ivory towers because they approach the world from a lofty perch.

But at Columbia we engage the world, and our students make work about things, ideas, questions, relationships, emotions, problems, and solutions. They don't make this work from a lofty perch.

Our students learn to be actors, filmmakers, photographers, journalists, painters, sculptors, poets, designers, directors, dancers, choreographers, or musicians. Yes, they learn the elements of the art forms. But, even more important, they use the forms to engage the world, learn and make meaning from it, to communicate with others, imagine new things and new ways the world can be, and to change themselves and the world in the process.
